I have strong, traditional, academic art skills, with a specialism in drawing and painting, allowing me to work very quickly and with the utmost confidence. I have a very broad range of visual experience, giving me a broad ‘vocabulary’ to work from.
I am able to work accurately and quickly with both the figure and interior/exterior spaces. I am reliable and able to work to fast deadlines. I am able to adapt stylistically to different design genres, have strong Painter (9) digital software skills, able to self direct work, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and fully open to art direction as well as working collaboratively.

- BBC ‘Big Bard Challenge’; One of many artists invited to work collaboratively on a portrait of Shakespeare to mark the opening of a season of all his works in Stratford Upon Avon.
Freelance Education
- Gallery Education: Devising and delivering KS3, KS4 and KS5 programmes of study in relationship with the gallery exhibition, developing students’ understanding of approaches to art and design. The courses lead students to become more visually literate, extend their awareness of other artists’ work and introduces many in how to ‘read’ artwork in a gallery context (Compton Verney House and art gallery).
- Adult Education: Developing and delivering adult education courses, including Teacher Inset training courses for School Staff, focusing on developing specific skills (eg.Master classes on key skills like perspective) run at Compton Verney House and art gallery. I’ve also lead sessions in ‘Adult Education Week’ for the county library services.
- School Sessions: Creating tailored art sessions for primary and secondary school groups (KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5) as both full day and half day sessions. Extending existing skills with ‘Gifted and Talented’ groups.
- Art History: I have taught art history, specifically western art history from 1850’s, covering the development of modernism, as separate courses.
Teaching Experience
I have taught art and design for ten years in secondary schools, 9 as a permanent member of staff. I have passed the teaching Threshold and hold a current, clean, CRB form. In this time I have successfully fulfilled the duties of a secondary school teacher, leading classes, targeting and developing skills, providing quality learning resources, initiating clubs and activities for gifted and talented groups and given my skills to projects for the benefit of the school community, including illustration, photography and mural work. I worked for five years (full time) at Ashlawn School, Rugby and at North Leamington Community School and Arts College for four years (part time) while developing my freelance work.
